We think of common stocks as fractional ownership interests in real businesses, not as pieces of paper to be traded endlessly back and forth. By extension, we think of ourselves and our partners as business owners. We seek common stock investments in companies with the following characteristics:

Once we have identified a business that meets each of our criteria, we prefer to remain invested for several years. Our portfolio typically consists of approximately 5-15 investments with low turnover from year to year. The majority of our investments are in small, mid, and micro-cap securities listed in North America, but our mandate gives us broad flexibility to invest in companies of any size or geography.

Twin Lions Management was founded in 2018 by Timothy R. Abbott. Prior to Twin Lions, Tim spent four years as an Analyst at Hound Partners, a hedge fund based in New York, NY. Before joining Hound, he spent three years as an Analyst at CPMG, a hedge fund based in Dallas, TX. Tim graduated Magna cum Laude from Princeton University with an A.B. in Economics and a Certificate in Finance.

Dixon McDonald is a Partner and Chief Operating Officer at Twin Lions. He joined the Firm in January 2023 as a Partner and Head of Business Development. Prior to Twin Lions, Dixon spent three years on the management team of Ambra Health, a New York-based healthcare software company, where he served as Director of Strategic Accounts. Prior to Ambra Health, he spent eight years at Goldman Sachs on the Prime Services Capital Introduction team in New York and London. Dixon graduated from Vanderbilt University with a B.A. in History and Minors in Corporate Strategy and English. He is the 55th American to ever row a boat unsupported across the Atlantic Ocean from the Canary Islands to Antigua, having captained a 4-man team in the 2020 Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge. He is a USA Triathlon All-American and Achilles International running guide.
